HISTORIES AND THEORIES — Institutionalization of Photography
She is director of the MA course in Visual Arts at IUAV Univesity, Venice, where she is associate professor of theory and critic of contemporary art (MA) and Fundamentals of Artistic Practices (BA). She was professor at Fine Art Academy of Milan, Venice, and Bergamo, and at Bocconi University, Milan (2000-2007 and 2010-2013). She was head of Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation (2002-2013), director of Galleria Civica di Modena (2005-2008), director of Foundation Arnaldo Pomodoro, Milan (2008-2010), co-curator of Foundation Antonio Ratti, Como (1995-2004), co-founder of Furla-Querini Stampalia Prize, co-founder of Contemporary Art Festival, Faenza (2007-2011). Her essays are present in catalogues and books published among the others by Philadelphia Museum of Arts, Phaidon Press, Sternberg, Koenig. Among her several books in Italian and spanish, Capire l’arte contemporanea(Allemandi, Torino, 1996/2006/2013), Artisti si diventa (Carocci, Roma, 1998), Si fa con tutto(Laterza, Roma Bari, 2010 e 2012), Arte contemporanea tra mercato e nuovi linguaggi (Il Mulino, Bologna 2012), Art as a Thinking Process (with Mara Ambrozic, Sternberg, Frankfurt 2013). In 2009 she was president of the Jury at Venice Art Biennale. Since 1986 she is a contributor for the Sunday suppement “Domenica” of Il Sole 24 Ore. She was assessor at the Department of cultural activities and turism development of The Municipality of Venice in 2013 and 2014.
